Ecsta v700

Postby fastneons » Sun Nov 28, 2004 9:22 am

Has anyone heard, or experienced, how the v700 does as a dedicated track tire. I'm probably not going to use this as an autocross tire, but a track tire. I am considering these tires for the neons, but the srt-4 will be more of a track car, lewistown and helena. I'm getting mixed reviews on them as a track tire. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you will want to ask Norm about those. He had those on his Honda last year. It didn't sound like he was too impressed with the Azenis Sports he had this year. Denny Hoeger was running them on his MG this year and seemed to like them.

Personally I think you need these bad boys -> http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=General&tireModel=Ameri-GS60

I have read and heard, no personal experience though, that the Victoracer is better than the Ecsta for track use.

when you say track event, do you mean a real roadcourse... or a high speed autocross? The reason I ask is this - If it is a big autocross, you will make a lap or whatever then the car will be resting for a while (tires cooling). On an actual roadcourse the tires wont have time to cool down. For what it's worth, I have driven a car very similar to mine with 235/45/13 V700s (the ecsta) and it did very well on the roadcourse at the memphis motorsports park. There was a noticeable difference to what i had on my car (215/45/16 Azenis), but you can expect that comparing a street tire to a race tire.

If they make them in the size you want, get the Kumho 710 or if you really want to try something out... get Hoosier's R3S04 or A3S04 (depending on what kind of track you plan to be on).

I think these ones might be better...

I think the treadwear rating of 760 means they will be really good for high performance driving techniques. they look kinda good too :D

The reason I was thinking of the v700, over the hoosiers is, the hoosier tend to wear faster. Also, the price is right.

so will these be for a roadcourse, or for autocross (with breaks between runs)?

Kind of both. When I use the car in helena, there will be breaks in between. When I use it in lewistown, you tend to make 20 min. runs.
