Hospital Auto-X 10/10/04 canceled!

Postby rkaiser » Sun Oct 10, 2004 6:28 am

Due to the weather I'm canceling the Hospital Auto-X today. There are just too many curbs up there to run when it's cold and wet! I'll probably head up there around 9:00 to make sure nobody is waiting around.

Now this makes me feel like I wasted my money in those new titanium curb feelers..I was going to rule!

Any chance we can reschedule? I'd love to run again this season.

wow, titanium curb feelers! As for running again, just depends on the weather. It will probably be 70 degress and sunny tomorrow!

For those interested, I think Great Falls has a event in Helena today too. I haven't heard if it has been canceled or not yet. Looks like it might be nicer up there today.

WX no factor in Helena

Postby MikeJ » Sun Oct 10, 2004 7:58 pm

We had a great time in Helena today. Coby and I both won our classes. There were 60+ cars there which made for really long work groups. the course used maybe 50 cones (maybe!) It was kinda fast. I spun-out at about 65 on the wide open area next to the airport, what a hoot (thanks for that snappy suspension Nick) Sorry you guys got WX'd out.

I knew there was another car I wanted to check times on, Mike.
What class were you in? Not much rhyme or reason to their classifications, is there?
BTW, are you going to get a copy of your "spin vid"?

I was in " C Sedan" with all of the Hondas (less the tricked out CRXs) I ran a 1:40.xxx. Their class system make no sense at all  I wonder if they are going to post the results on the website, since they haven't posted TopGun yet...

I figured it was cancelled but I am haveing problems with my computer at home so I couldn't check the website. I dropped by the Hospital around 11 Sunday morning in thinking that I could get some rides with other people.

Wets not that bad, The funnest autocross I ever drove was earlier this year at the Ice garden in damp conditions. Of course there is a lot more running room at the garden then at the hospital in case of mistakes so it was probably a good thing to cancel it. The last thing this region needs is another incedent

A cold wet course is just a little too scary at the Hospital. The wet events at the Ice Garens have been awfully fun. Plus I found out my Safety Steward and cones weren't going to show up! Wish I would have gone up to Helena. Oh well, will get plenty of oppertunities to next year.

Ray, do you have some secret project car in the works?

Well, there should be a few more safety Stewards around now. I recieved my safety stewards license about a week ago. We shouldn't have a shortage of stewards anymore. Next year if I am not racing I still plan to attend most events and would be willing to fill in if need be.

No secret, Just an option. I found a mid 80's Camaro that I can pick up almost free. The pic of the yellow Camaro that I posted is similar to how I would build it. It would be classed in C-Prepared. It is still a wide, fairly heavy car(Might be able to get it down to 3000lbs) so I am trying to hold out for something smaller. An MR2 would be awsome.

Sounds super cool Ray. An almost free camaro would be a fun project for anybody! Go for it!

Rick, You wheren't then Silver Audi S4 that tried to race me Monday night around midnight on North 19th? Whoever it was decided to do the classic Ricer flyby after I clearly beat him. There can't be that many silver S4's in Bozeman , can there?

No, me not driving any Silver S4, nor would i race the WHite beast anyhow!

Was it a new style S4 with the V8, or the previous style with twin turbo?
(the newer car is a bit bigger and styled a little rounder)

The twin turbo version can be made to be pretty quick, but would take a hefty amount of tweaking to get the same hp you've got.

There are quite a few Silver S4's rolling the streets around here, even more with school in session.

I want one of the new style S4's, real bad, in the wagon version. V8 wagon of doom (y)

It was a turbo model. He actually hung with me pretty good but my races are usually running about halfway through second gear before they give up. This guy wanted a little bit more. I got off the throttle in second gear and noticed that he started to catch me so I ran it into 3rd where I let off again. He still didn't give up so I stomped on it again until I decided the speed was getting a bit fast(over 100 MPH). After I clearly beat him and let off he decides to pull the ricer flyby crap. Next time I will just run it through 3rd and put many bus lengths on him before I let off.
