There is a decent chance that I will be able to get there in the afternoon, but not positive. Depends on where I have to go for work.

Thanks for quick responses. Ok to use you for Waivers Russ? If yes Rose will do EC I will do SSS. We can also have Russ do backup SS. Or maybe someone else who needs event credit for SS license. We should have plenty of people for all the various roles. Thanks again.

Next weekend is the final round of the Montana Challenge. Register online to get the discounted price. You can race one day or both days.

SWMTSCCA is hosting this round and we are looking forward to a fun weekend.

So that everyone is aware, we will be running a 2 pad course designed by Jonathan Mudge. Jonathan is at the national Packwood event this weekend and I am sure he will come back with some great course ideas. These courses are typically very flowing, fast and fun. They actually seem like mini race tracks.

ALL RACERS: We will park and camp in the gravel as usual, please park off of the asphalt in the motorcycle training area. The start finish will be located about half way down the dragstrip. If you need equipment handy for your pit access you can park beyond our timing trailer on the dragstrip.

The weather has been very hot and dry and is expected to remain that way through the championship weekend. PLEASE USE CAUTION AND AVOID PARKING HOT VEHICLES IN THE GRASS. A hot exhaust can easily spark a grass fire.

Good luck to those in the championship hunt and we look forward to seeing everyone next weekend!

Remember you can still race even if you aren't chasing the championship.

I believe it is our turn for awards this year. WE NEED COOL IDEAS. WE NEED TO ORDER VERY SOON!

As for the tally I can gather current results to have ready, but final ranking will be done after the event and awards presented at Top Gun.

It used to be that we would pass the event file in axware from club to club so the computer figured out the championship per class, per pax etc. That way it was much easier. If the file didn't get passed the first time to the second race and then to you it will have to be figured manually or someone will have to take the first event file and enter a second race the second event results in it.

My question is this, are we pitting all the way out on the straight again by the sounds of it? Will there be any bathrooms out there? Can I just bring my trailer out on the back straight if that's the case?

I wanted to send a big THANK YOU to everyone that helped out to run the weekends events. Although I was worried, everything ran very smoothly, tasks got handled on time, and glitches were resolved quickly by one of you. Thanks also for everyone's attention to issues and for pleasantly responding to and resolving racers issues. That sort of thing will help to get people coming back to future events.

I need to especially thank Loren K. for getting the new trailer prepped and up to Helena.
Mel for a marathon day on Friday.

Mel-
hauled all of our timing equipment to Helena,
unloading the old trailer,
loaded cones and supplies into the new trailer
hauled the rickety old trailer to the landfill
delivered cones and helped set the course with Mudge
worked safety and registration all weekend
used his trailer to pick up the cones after the event,
returned the new trailer to storage
hauled the trash to the dumpster

And was still able to spread cheer and smack talk all weekend.
Thank you Mel, we really appreciate it, especially knowing retired fellows such as yourself have a full schedule as it is.

Jonathan Mudge:
designed and set the course
reset the course after the Saturday night storm
I heard good things about the courses, more about Sunday, but I think most people appreciated the technical complexity of Saturdays course too.
Jonathan also kept timing, registration, and safety issues in check and was in constant motion resolving something all weekend.

Thanks Will Papallo who figured out how to determine work assignments and make adjustments as needed.
Will also kept track of a few that were not working their assignments and attempted to track down as many as he could.

James Papallo helped with check in and registration and other issues that popped up, which eased the load on others.

Russ was in constant circulation, kept an eye on things and corrected safety and event deficiencies he found. He also kept us in much needed ice and water.

Michael Knudsen stayed on top of the timing and cleared issues so that the whole event flowed seamlessly, although I know he was busy making fixes behind the scene.

If I forgot anyone, Thank you.

And to top it off every one of these people ran great times and ended up on top of the board. Maybe thats the secret, stay busy until you run!
