SAfety Stewards for 2017

Postby mdlfCRXs » Mon Feb 06, 2017 11:30 am

Who is going to be a safety Steward for 2017? I will put together a list so we know who we have for planning at events.

Thank you.

I accidentally let my safety steward license expire. I'll have to look into what I need to do to get it back.

Here is the sss certification course information:
Sign up now because they are limiting numbers.

There is one scheduled Thursday, March 30. I’ve opened up a few slots.

Please register for Solo Safety Steward Class on Mar 30, 2017 8:00 PM EDT at:

https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/regist ... 9767763715

This Solo Safety Steward (SSS) online class is the first formal step to become an SCCA-licensed SSS. This can also be used to renew or update your SSS/SSI license to the 3-year license. The purpose is to be able to continue having fun with our cars. The start time of the class is geared toward the eastern half of the US.

Please be familiar with the Introductory Section, 1. Solo Events, 2. Course, 3. Vehicles, 4. Drivers and Classes, 5. Officials, and Appendix E - Solo Safety Steward Guidebook of the 2017 SCCA National Solo Rules beforehand. www.scca.com/pages/solo-cars-and-rules

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

Allready full :( I'm hate to say but this is kinda stupid. Requiring this class but offering it at limited times and participation makes it very difficult and annoying.

Yeah, that's really frustrating.

It was also pretty much impossible to find out about the class ahead of time. The SCCA is really messing up on this one.

just called them. Looks like my SS license is good until 2019. They told me the person to talk to is James Shepard - which could lead to us doing our own training - maybe?

My paperwork has been submitted by the regional SS, so I should be good to go for the season.

I agree and this was suppose to be a step in the right direction for certification but for some reason scca doesn't step up the training. Most clubs at the convention were all for this because they are all desperate for sss. Scca isnt taking the message seriously.
To limit the class size- on a webcast!!!- and not advertise the offering is rediculous!
I will contact Doug Gill the guy in charge of the course and the norpac divisional ss and stress our concerns.
Stay tuned in case i learn something.

I sent off a message to Doug Gill SCCA Head of Safety training and our NORPAC regional head of safety James Shepard asking about how we can get our training if the courses are full. I will let you know what I hear back.

At the end of the webinar Thursday, Doug mentioned they were going to plan another one in the near future as they realized there is demand. Nothing formal yet, but I bet if they keep getting pinged about it, they will have one.

Here is the next SSS class. This one is only for renewals, not first timers. As Jason mentioned there may be more classes coming so stay tuned, and thank you.

I noticed that. I think Kent is the only one that can take this course. You are now current Russ? Correct?

I'm signed up for the class.

I believe it's true that to renew for 3 years you have to take a class. I think it's a double edged sword there, because last time I renewed it was for 3 years so then I promptly forgot all about it and let it expire. Although it's not that big a deal, I think I would have had to do the course to renew for another 3 years anyway, so I'm not much worse off.
