June 18-19 Helena

Postby Mel Kuipers » Fri May 27, 2016 10:39 am

This Helena event is an addition to our usual schedule in response to members asking for increased time at that wonderful venue....I am leaving mid week next week for about 10 days, and may not have good connectivity for much of that time.....Mudge has offered to do the course, so lets get volunteers for the paperwork....we need:
1. Event Chair
2. Safety Steward
3. Chief of Waivers
I will be at the event on Friday mid pm, to help set up the course and operations....I am willing to take any of the above roles, but will offer them to the club first and then bat cleanup....if you know you will make this event, please let me know now what you would like to do....thanks, Mel

Hey Don -

This thread is about a two day event our club is hosting on June 18-19 but this is not our Montana Challenge event. Our Challenge event will be July 16-17.

I just wanted to put this out there to be sure we are talking about the same, and correct, event.

What event(s) are you planning to attend?

dave

P.S. - I don't recall our ever not having on-site registration in the past so I assume you'd be able to show up, register, and drive. That said I'm not involved with this so maybe someone else can chime in and say for sure.

This weekend and next weekend both at Helena. It is about your 18th-19th event and the 3rd & 4th legs of the Montana Changed the week before.

To answer your question, we LIKE when people pre-register, but we allow you to register day-of as well. No problem there.

It looks like we are crossed up on the registration site - it's showing July 18-19 for the MT challenge, which is a Monday/Tuesday and we have nothing listed for June 18-19...We should probably re-post July and add June?

Got a rough sketch of the course this weekend. Obviously adjustments will be made to smooth it out and maybe adjust the finish from a safety standpoint.

I don't have an answer for you on the generator Mel. If you went into the van and looked for it and it's not there then I don't know where it is.

I do know that it was doing it's surging thing at the cardinal event and this makes me wonder if someone took it to be worked on....I don't know but that could be it if it's not there.

I have no idea where it is Mel - we'll have to wait to see if someone removed it to be serviced.

If anyone can get the generator up here, do it. At the same time, I am rounding up a generator that won't be out fulfilling camping duties this weekend. At best, we will have two generators at the ready; Next best scenario, I will rent one from A1 Rentals, worst case, I have a good stopwatch...

What a great weekend in Helena....with a few adjustments, we had lots of runs, and the usual fun time with friends....thanks to all, expecially Jason in his rookie EC role...nice job, and well done event....for the few of you (read: all) who like to peruse the numbers on sunday after the weekend event, be aware that I have the computer and will not put you thru me trying to post it (and in the process loose all the data-----nope, not being negative, just living in the real world)....I will get the data to Alex for safe keeping and posting...

What a fun weekend. Thanks to everyone for making it possible. The Mudge course was really fun and did a great job of keeping the average speeds high and allowing real flow though the entire thing. I loved it.

I look forward to being back at the Commons in a few weeks and then back up to Helena. Summer is good!

Thanks for a fun weekend everyone! I'm glad that you all seemed to enjoy the course. There are a couple things I wish I would have done a little differently, but overall I am very pleased the way it turned out. I learned so much about design just by doing that, and I plan on improving the next Helena weekend. I must say the battle with Mike Sunday afternoon was the most fun I've had all year. It doesn't get much better than that. Thanks to everyone who pitched in and helped out! See you all soon.
