Fundraiser for Alex at Coneheads?

Postby Jeff Thill » Thu Aug 22, 2013 12:12 am

I would like so ideas for a fundraiser for Alex at Coneheads. If anyone doesn't know, Alex rolled his car at Top Gun and is in need of a new shell to put his car back together. So.... Possibly $10 or $20 runs after racing is over? Or if your a business, put up your business banner at the event and in exchange donate to his fund? Possibly an event Saturday evening after dinner that includes fundraising? The cone stacking event we had at Top Gun drew a huge crowd. Well over 30 I'm guessing not including people watching. So maybe something with that? What ever it is, I want to do something. More over, I need someone to head this up with myself as the wingman. I will help as much as possible, but I have several officers that won't be able to help at the event due to several different circumstances and is so my plate is pretty full. I am posting this in all three regions, but I think one central place to discuss is best. So please only respond to the Bozeman forum, as this is where always is from and I think it's best kept in this forum.

Alex, we will all do what we can to help!

Good idea! I can't commit to being there yet, and I have zero ideas for it, but let me know if I can help.

Maybe allow a extra timed run for a donation of $20 or maybe $10. Or even do something like we do where we guess our best time by placing money in the pot. Winner gets half and the other half as donation?

This community is awesome.

Honestly, the amount of support and concern and offers of help that I have received is more than enough, any financial help would be above and beyond. But, if you really want to do something, I also like Russ's ideas.

My vote is for $10 per hit cone you'd like to see magically disappear from your run. As long as my front bumper held up and I brought enough cash, I might actually be able to beat Rob Johnson for once.....

I thought it was a lot of fun when we put money in the jar and guessed what our best time of the day would be.

Sorry everyone. I used to get a message automatically when a reply was done on a thread I started. I need to find the checkbox to make that happen again. LOL. Anyway, Russ has a great idea. Buck runs (or $10 runs) are always a pain because you have to go pick up the course. Russ, would be be an awesome dude and be the main guy for this? I will promote it before the event and we can talk about it at the event as well. I am going to be very shorthanded at this event and have been asking other club members to help out and if you could come up with the rules and bring a jar or box or something to put money in, that would be awesome!! Or if Russ can't do it, will someone else volunteer? One thought I have is this. We want to give people plenty of time to be able to get their money and time in the jar, but it also has to not hold up the morning. I have asked the same people that helped with registration at Top Gun to help out at Coneheads. We can have them taking down times right on the check in sheet Saturday morning between 7am and 8am. We could make this a single day thing, two separate days or two combined days. I think two separate days would be more money and more fun. But its up to you. And I am willing to do a $10 guess for my time for sure!

I totally love your idea too Nathan! Ummmmmm, can we tripple drive Stans car for this. Its all steel compared to my plastic wonder!

Good news. Superstar moments will be at Coneheads. They are the folks that take the wicked photos and make the really awesome posters of you in your very own Superstar Moment! They have graciously decided to donate HALF their sales to Alex!!!! So lets all help Alex and purchase a Super Star moment of yourself at Coneheads!!!!

Remember, this is a preregister event only. Register by September 4th at mtscca.motosportreg.com or go to greatfallsracing.com Alex.... hoping all this helps!

That is a very big thing of them to do. I'll be buying stuff from them.

Do we have any volunteers to help with the Fundraiser? See my post above in response to Russ's Idea. Would love someone to bring a bucket or something with a lid to put money in. Need someone to be at the registration table to take the peoples money and write down their guesses on times. Will anyone volunteer to run this? Would be super appreciated. Very short handed. Thanks!
