Our event officials are as follows:
Mel EC
Russ SSS
Joe or Mel or someone else licensed Assist SS
James Jong Chief Waivers
Joe and Ron Roncetto Registrars
Alex Chief of Tech
Nick J and Alex Timing crew
Dave K course designer
James Rose---Chief of Workers---I have emailed him, am sure he will do it if he comes, but if he does not come to the event, we will assign this on the fly..

A couple of questions----who will be bringing the computer?
Joe--do you have a supply of registration forms? (we were out at Cardinal, and I can run a bunch if we need them)...the three drawer plastic file cab in the van has a few inches of waiver forms...also Joe, do you have the waiver wrist bands or are they in the van where we did not find them?

Things look solid for the event...I have ordered 70 degree temp, sunny skies and wind less than 10 mph out of the southwest...there you have it...I plan to be there 4-5 pm friday...with dark coming around 7pm, we should be able to get things in shape by then...Mel

I have the computer, but not its power cable (I believe that is in the van). Can whoever grabs the timing gear from the van make sure they have the laptop power adapter as well?

I wasn't planning on showing up on Friday, although I know there was talk of doing tech for people who showed up the night before. Is there anyone who is going to be there on Friday that can tech a few cars?

I just committed to Chief of workers through Mel. Let's see, Miata drivers get assigned to the far sweeper end of the course I believe.

yes James, Miatas start down by the sweeper---in order to have a running start....
Alex--we can do what tech is needed friday nite if you do not make it by then..if so, will see you sat am..
I talked with Adam Granley the Missoula RE and we are welcome to use their trailer and equipment...I will have my truck to move the trailer...I will also run to Tim's and get an extra supply of cones, and the other stuff like safety buckets and equipment, computer stuff (including the cable you are tolking about Alex), the generator and whatever else leaps into my truck...checking the long forcast we are looking at mid 50s and 40% chance of rain--not quite what I ordered, but certainly safely in keeping with the 50-50 rule...thats it for now...eveything looks to be moving in the desired direction...oh, I am going to be there about 4pm friday, and Judi is coming up sat am...since the motorhome is winterized already, I am going to bring a tent and sleeping bag...the tent holds 4 close, 3 nicely and 1 or 2 easily...anyone is welcome share with me but do be aware, I snore louder than the WTCs when they fell down (byoe---bring your own earplugs and Judi will not share hers, even with me)...if there is little chance of rain, I may just throw the bag down and look at the stars thru closed lids...

If you could also grab chalk from the van that would be great.

will do Dave...had a thot that the radios use AA batteries, and I think the timing lights do also--can any one confirm?...our July event in Helena we had a brick of AA batteries--does anyone know where they are, or if any are left?...if not will make a note to pick up a brick...

Mel, The timing lights take AA's and use 16 a day. I think we have a few in the van but we are almost out. The radios also use them so it would be a good idea to get some more.

Thanks,

I'll print some more reg forms and get them into the event box.
I do have the wrist bands, in the event box.

Re: batteries for the radios. All the radios have rechargeables in them, if we can get them all charged before the event they should last the day.

trivia question that fits me: "No man its me, I got the stuff"....that dates me, but someone should get it...batteries are charged, got the sheet rock, got all the wires in the van, timing sensor boxes, safety gear, got cones, chairs, bull horn....left some cones, candelsticks, the table and scoreboard---all that stuff is there with the trailer...getting excited, but don't like the weather which makes me say the most frequent thing I say as a father--we'll see....

I can tell by this comment that you are as old as I am - you need to be to get it.

See you on saturday - the forecast now says 63°and sunny. Not bad for October.

In looking at the hour to hour forecast for Helena it looks like a 30% chance of precipitation until about 3AM Saturday when it drops to 10% for the day. Not bad. The forecast high is in the low 60's.

I look forward to ripping around one last time for the season.

Really??? What's changed? They use to be able to go a couple events before changing.

Yeah, I don't know what the deal is. Sometimes they do go two events but then some events we change them twice. So I don't know what is going on with them. But it would seem prudent to have enough batteries for worse case.

On the battery front, our batteries usually last 5-6 events if not the entire season if they are turned off after the event. We found bad switches in our timers also, they got corroded and would make contact randomly. After talking to race america they said that they had a bad batch of switches. We replaced our switches and wired in a small LED so we could easily tell they were on. So far so good. Even though ya'll will read this after your last event, its something to look at.

Adam, thank you for the information. I know we have left our lights on many times. An indicator light is a great idea, I really think they should come that way. Other than leaving them on, I am not sure what would be draining the batteries. They have gotten wet, maybe we should take them apart and make sure nothing is messed up inside. We'll look at, or just change, the switches too.
